11U Tigers-Ingram Earn Early Elite World Series Berth!!

Posted by Dallas Tigers News  |  Championships, Tournaments  |  Monday March 29, 2010 at 12:33 pm

2010 Shreveport Super NIT Baseball Champs

For the second year in a row the 11U Tigers-Ingram have earned a berth to the USSSA Elite World Series held at the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando Florida. After taking the championship game of the Shreveport Louisiana Super NIT qualifier March 28th in convincing fashion, they earned themselves an early berth to return to Disney. The Tigers went 6-0 over the weekend taking down a powerfully talented Oklahoma Rays team 6-3 in the late Sunday night Championship game. The Rays proved to be a very tough competitor with their own group of quality pitching and strong offense, ranked #2 nationally by Travel Ball Select. It was truly a team effort by the Tigers over the six games played, however it came down to pitching in which the Tigers are very deep. Jared Martin was a standout performer both on the mound and at the plate over the weekend of play. He picked up two wins on the mound going 5 innings against a strong Rays offense in the championship battling back from a 3-0 deficit going into the 6th inning. The Tigers bats finally came alive in the top of the 6th, erupting for 6 runs on 6 hits led by Martin who finished the tournament with 7 hits and 6 RBI’s. While the Tigers had to claw their way back to win two of the six they played, other complete game performances on the mound by Dawson Barr and Syler Shepherd proved to be too much for their opponents in route to the championship showdown. Tiger pitchers gave up only 16 runs over the 6 games while the offense came around late to produce a total of 41 runs and bat .321 versus their opponents .176 average.

Congratulations to the 11U Dallas Tiger-Ingram on their second 1st place finish in as many tournaments and earning a return trip to Florida in August!

Tigers 11U Spring Fling Championship

Posted by Dallas Tigers News  |  Championships, Tournaments  |  Monday March 29, 2010 at 11:30 am

Dallas Tigers Baseball Tournament ChampionshipThe Dallas Tigers 11u coached by Anthony Walsh Seeded 1st and went an impressive 5-0 in the Spring Fling 11u Open tournament March 27th – 28th in Celina Texas. The 11u Walsh Tigers started playing together January 15th 2010 and in 2.5 months under Coach Walsh were able to bring home the champions trophy in their first ever finals game. Congratulations Coach Walsh and Tiger players.

The weekend started out slow in the early game Saturday morning with the team falling behind 6-1 after 2 innings. The boys pulled it together and rallied back to win 10-7.  The boys moved on to the second game of the day and decided they would not fall behind again in the rest of the tournament winning the second game handily 17-1.  In the third game the boys jumped on top early and never looked back in their 12-4 victory.  In the fourth game of the tournament the boys faced a different team than the team they beat 17-1. It was a much tighter game but in the end the boys won 6-2 to advance to the Championship game.  In the Championship with the boys wearing their Championship orange jerseys playing under clear skies and a full moon, the boys jumped out to a 2-1 lead early and never looked back in their 5-2 win to bring home the championship and complete a perfect 5-0 for the weekend.  It was truly a team effort over the entire weekend with 8 of 11 players pitching and no one pitcher reaching their maximum pitching outs.

Congratulations to the Tigers 11u-Walsh team for their championship!  Continue to improve.

The 9U Dallas Tigers team earned a spot again in a baseball tournament championship game against DBat Mansfield.  Tigers scored one run early in the top of the 1st inning, but DBat was able to jump out to a 7-1 lead after one inning of play.   The Dallas Tigers then made a roaring comeback and outscored DBat 12-6 through 6 full innings, but lost in the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs on a bloop hit over the pitcher, 13-12.

“Getting down early and coming back the way we did says a lot about our team,” commented Coach Polk, “but what happened for our team out here this weekend was exciting.  We achieved our #1 goal which is always to improve players through the Tiger system and process, and give them big game experience.”

11U Tigers take it to USSSA Heroes Tournament Championship

Posted by Dallas Tigers News  |  Tournaments  |  Thursday March 18, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Tigers USSSA Heroes Baseball TournamentOur Tiger Family member, 11U coached by Ernie Cecil, made it to the finals in the Heroes Tournament  battling back from a 2 run deficit in the last inning to 6-3 . Ronnie Taylor pitched the entire game before coming out tired in the last inning with two runners on and no outs.  Top defensive play kept the Tigers in the game and held the opponent to 3 runs through 6 innings.  Stefanek came in, walked his first batter to load the bases, and next fought back to get two outs.  Next batter – with two outs and two strikes – for the Waxahachie Marlins hit a walk-off Grand Slam to win the game.  Final score 7-6 Marlins.

Coach Cecil commented, “This prooved to be a good start to what looks to be a very good year.”

As painful as that has to be, the Dallas Tigers still played well and took second in their first complete tournament of the season. Congratulate them on their 2nd place finish the next time you see them.

Tournament play begins on Thursday 3/16, and completed boards must be finalized prior to tip-off at 10:00 a.m. on 3/16.  Total prize money will be determined and announced after the close on 3/17.  Our goal is to sell 100 boards, if we reach our goal the total prize money will be $2,500, if less than 100 boards are sold the prize money will be split. Last year we paid out the full $2,500. This is a goal only and total prize money will not be determined until the close of 3/17.  Prize money will be allotted as follows and winners will receive a Visa gift card that can be used anywhere.
