Dallas Tigers 10u-Polk went down to Houston and brought back a Championship. This marks only the second time in the 20 year history a Dallas Tigers team has won a tournament Championship in Houston. The first was the 12u Dallas Tigers – Ingram team in 2011.
The Tigers had great pitching all weekend only giving up 8 runs while the offense scored 35 runs. The tournament was packed with some of the best 10u baseball teams in the Houston area. That included one of the best teams in the country, Team Citius USA – Bernal. The Tigers went 2-0 on Saturday giving them the #1 seed going into bracket play. This would set the stage for the game of the weekend. Team Citius won their first bracket game matching them up against the Tigers-Polk. As one spectator said of the Team Citius vs Tigers match up, “this is the match up everyone has been waiting for.” And the game didnt disappoint. Team Citius scored 1 run in the top of the first and the Tigers answered back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. And that’s how the game would stay. Tigers beat Citius 2 – 1 in a pitcher’s dual. The Tigers went on to win the last two games 12-2 and 7-3. The Tigers were “locked in” all weekend and were on a mission. The Tigers pitched lights out all weekend and had some great defense and some very timely hits. Congratulations, boys, on the tournament Championship!!!
