Over 20 Players Signed from the Dallas Tigers Class of 2019

You read it right …20 baseball players signed last month to continue playing baseball in college from our Class of 2019.  The Dallas Tigers Baseball Club family would like to congratulate all these men on the efforts they have put in over many years working at their craft.  We’d also like to thank the commitment of these families and all the sacrifices they’ve made of many years to enable their son to play at the next level.

“We as an organization have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.  These young men getting to continue to play baseball in college is rewarding for them and their families,” noted club president Tommy Hernandez.  “National signing day is by far my favorite day of the year and I’m just thankful for the commitment these families make to their son’s to afford them this opportunity.  This also says a lot about our instructors, volunteers, and the club as a whole …we develop players and prepare them to compete at the next level and in life.”

Congratulations men!  You deserve it.

DALLAS TIGERS EXPAND TO OKLAHOMA – PARTNER WITH WBO

Dallas Tigers Oklahoma logo

Dallas Tigers Oklahoma World Baseball Outreach WBO

The Dallas Tigers Baseball Club announces the expansion of its youth select baseball teams to Oklahoma through its affiliation with World Baseball Outreach (WBO) of Tulsa. WBO is a nonprofit based in Tulsa, Oklahoma whose mission is to guide youth on a life path that balances the mind, body and spirit and to build confident community leaders centered in Christ.

The Dallas Tigers have been recognized nationally as one of the premier youth baseball organizations in the country. More than 30 Tigers have been selected for U.S. National Teams, over 200 Tigers have gone on to play Division I College Baseball and over 40 Tiger Alumni have played in Major League Baseball.

The two organizations find a common purpose to promote the game of baseball by providing an environment where boys can participate as teammates in leagues and tournaments composed of highly competitive select traveling baseball teams. Both centered around player development, they prepare their players to play at the next level through training and assembling teams to compete on a national level. Through this process, these players are able to leverage maximum exposure through a brand known for delivering solid baseball players.

The club’s founder and president, Tommy Hernandez, has managed the club since its inception after a successful college career at Texas Tech University and playing two years for the Texas Rangers organization. “This club is about player development,” stated Tommy Hernandez, “and I look forward to working with WBO to prepare these Oklahoma players for high school and college baseball.”

Club coaches are retained as independent contractors to teach and motivate players and to develop their individual and team skills to their highest potential. The ultimate goal of the club is to place the players in college level programs or assist them in the professional draft process. According to Hernandez, “Regardless of the player’s current skill level, we work to make them better baseball players by teaching them to respect the game, their coaches and parents.”

Oklahoma tryouts for the new Dallas Tigers teams have yet to be announced.

Dallas Tiger commits 2018

More College Commits for Dallas Tigers Players

We are excited to announce the latest in a host of Dallas Tigers players early committing to play college baseball.

Preston and Austin King committed to play at the University of Texas Rio Grand Valley (UTRGV).  The King brothers are in the 2019 class of Argyle High School.  They play for the 17U team coached by Tommy Hernandez and have been Tigers since 11U.  They also just came off an undefeated season at Argyle that led them to a 4A State Championship.

Baylor University’s latest commit, Ryan Patterson, is a 2020 at Prestonwood Christian Academy.  Ryan plays for the 16U Tigers coached by Steve Arias and has been a Tiger since 12U.

Brandon Troxler also recently accepted a scholarship to Wichita State University this Summer.  Brandon has been a Tiger since 10U and is currently on the 17U team coached by Tommy Hernandez.  Trox is a 2019 at Rockwall High School.

“We take a lot of pride in our players earning the opportunity to play at the next level,” said club President, Tommy Hernandez. “It is an achievement for the players and parents who have put in countless hours of energy through the tryout process that is years long.  Couldn’t be more proud for this latest group of college baseball commits.”

Congratulations fellas!

Seattle Mariners Select Cal Hernandez in MLB Draft

Cal Hernandez - Seattle MarinersWith their 26th round MLB Draft pick, the Seattle Mariners select Cal Hernandez, 3rd baseman out of Oral Roberts University.  Atta boy Calvin!!

The Mariners get a much-needed third base prospect with Cal Hernandez, a junior from Oral Roberts University. Hernandez was All-Summit First Team last year after leading the conference in doubles and improved on his numbers over this season; this year, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a conference championship and was named tournament MVP.

In 2017, Hernandez was named to the All-Summit League First Team as a third baseman ranking third in the league with 44 runs scored in his first season at ORU … Started 57 games, with all but one at the hot corner, and posted a .299 average with 11 extra-base hits, one home run and 10 doubles … Drew 26 walks for the year and drove in 27 runs … Belted his only home run of the season hitting from the left side at home against Wichita State March 21 … Went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in his ORU debut against Little Rock … Posted multiple hits in four-consecutive games at Omaha and Oklahoma State going 9-for-17 from April 15-18.

As a junior at ORU in 2018, Cal was again named to the All-Summit League First Team as a third baseman and had 12 doubles, 34 RBI, posted a .329 batting average, and had .426 OBP. Defensively, he posted a .936 fielding percentage and even made the ESPN top 10 plays of the day.

PRIOR TO ORU
Played one collegiate season at Cisco College under the direction of head coach David Whitey in Cisco, Texas … Tallied a .327 batting average in 58 games for the Wranglers as the team reached the NJCAA World Series in 2016 … Posted 12 doubles, three triples and four home runs adding 37 RBI and 27 walks. Prepped at Coppell High School for a team that ranked in the top 10 in the nation … Was named Offensive Player of Year, All-State Second Team and First-Team All-District with the Cowboys.

Cal is also obviously a Dallas Tiger for life as he was born with a Tigers jersey on.

Proud of you Cal!! Best of luck in pro ball this Summer!

Cal Hernandez - Seattle Mariners
