Coach Woods 12U Tigers traveled to Waco recently giving a strong performance as they completed the weekend with a 4-0 mark, coming from behind to defeat the Lubbock Hooks for the championship 6-5. JJ Montenegro had a standout weekend at the plate and on the mound. JJ was 9 for 11 with 2 homeruns and 11 RBI’s. On the mound he was dominating in the first bracket game on Sunday, throwing a 12-0 no hitter against the Dallas Panthers. In the championship, the Tigers battled back from a 5-1 deficit by scoring 3 runs in the 5th to tie the game at 5. In the bottom of the 6th Klayton Henderson’s RBI single with the bases loaded completed the comeback win. Lance Russell came on to pitch in the 4th to shut down the Hooks and earn the win.
