12U-Woods Take Back-To-Back Championships With Super Series Regional Win At Bakersfield In Flower Mound
For the second consecutive weekend Coach Kyle Woods and his 12U Tigers left the park with a championship, this time with first place “gold rings”. After a slow start in a pool opener lost to the McKinney Marshals, the Tigers stormed back with 5 victories to claim the championship. The Tigers had to play four games on Sunday beginning at noon with the most convincing win over DBAT-Merle 14-3 in game #2 on Sunday. That was followed by a strong 11-3 victory over the Abilene Dawgs. In the championship against the Waxahachie Marlin, JJ Montenegro battled on the mound scattering 5 hits while Jake Whitbeck closed out the game with the save. The Tiger bats were the story pounding out 10 hits, led by Cole Solomon who was 3 for 4, a double and 2 RBI’s in the championship ring tilt and the 11-7 win. Other strong performances were delivered by Klayton Henderson (8 for 19) and Lance Russell (8 for 14) throughout the 6 games played on the weekend. Congratulations to a terrific month of May for the Tigers that netted Coach Woods group three championships!!
