The 9U Dallas Tigers concluded their fall schedule with a very solid performance in The Colony over the weekend.
Game one on Sunday bracket play was a tight duel with the Texas Sports out of Rockwall. Down by 1 run, Caleb Bergman stole 3rd and Blake Jordan squeezed in the tying run (3-3). The next inning, Jonah McCormack hit a triple and Walker Polk squeezed him in for the win.
In game two the Tigers offense came alive with quality at-bats up and down the line-up against the North Texas Titans. They were aggressive and clutch with runners in scoring position the whole game. Most notably, Kade Sweckard pitched a perfect game (no hits and no walks)!!! This is an incredible accomplishment for a 9-year-old in his first season of kid pitch. Nice job Kade!
In the championship game, the boys picked right up where they left off. Against the Pro Source Athletics, base running and timely hitting put a lot of pressure on the defense.
“We saw some very good pitchers today and our boys did what they do. Aggressive at the plate, on the bases, made routine plays, pitchers filled up the strike zone, and changed speeds effectively,” commented coach Polk. “I’m proud for these boys and how far they’ve come in just 2 months of workouts and 13 games. This weekend things started clicking in all facets of the game. Can’t wait to see their progress this spring.”
Congratulations boys! Nice job.
