The Dallas Tigers 11U Polk played at Baseball USA in Houston this past weekend and brought home the Championship. The Tigers scored 61 runs and only gave up 15 in 6 games on the their way to the Championship. The Baseball USA Premier Classic featured some of the best teams in Texas including Banditos Black, Team Citius – Joseph, Marucci Bulls, and Texas Citius.
“It was a total team effort all weekend. The boys are finally coming together and playing as a team,” commented Coy Polk. “We ran into some trouble in the first game and had to use a lot of our pitching. I was really proud of how they bounced back and came together. This team is really starting to jell, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Great job boys on a total team effort!!!
The 10U Dallas Tigers, coached by Chad Polk & Brett Bergman, won the tournament in Burleson, Texas this past weekend and went 5-0 on the weekend. For the tournament they scored 52 total runs and had a breakout offensive weekend.
“I like the way this team is progressing. Players are improving each week and the team game we play is getting better each inning as well,” commented Chad Polk. “The development of these players is encouraging, but we have a lot of work in front of us.”
Congratulations boys! Keep up the good work.
The 10U Dallas Tigers coached by Chad Polk and Brett Bergman turned it on to get into the championship bracket at the Rangers Youth Ballpark baseball tournament. The tournament only takes the top 4 seeded teams into the championship and after loosing their first pool game, the 10U Tigers had to battle in the remaining 2 pool games to get into championship play.
Game one of the bracket they beat the Frisco Riders – Cruz, 9-4. Jaden Hill had a breakout pitching performance giving up only 1 hit through 4 innings of work and struck out 6 and JC Davis came in to close giving up no hits and no runs. The championship game was a rematch with their only pool play loss to the Dallas Texans – Lowe. The Tigers showed grit and were ready for the rematch. Quality at-bats and solid pitching were the difference in the 10-6 win over the Dallas Texans. Kade Sweckard provided 4 quality innings of work and Jonah McCormack came in and shut the door with 2 full innings of work giving up no runs, no hits, and striking out 3.
Congratulations boys! Nice work.
Travel Ball Select (TBS) chose 2 players from the 9U Dallas Tigers for the All-America Team, Jared Thomas and Walker Polk! Jared was selected based on his offensive performance and as a first baseman. Walker was selected based on his offensive performance and as a catcher. Jared and Walker were 2 of only 20 players nationally to make the list.
“The 2013 9U Tigers had a number of players who could have made this list, but for these 2 to make it is a great acknowledgement of their performance. What the list doesn’t show is how good of team players these kids are. They both love competing with this team and they’ll be fun to watch grow up over the years,” commented coach Chad Polk.
Congratulations Jared and Walker!

The Dallas Tigers Baseball Club will be forming a new 12U baseball team for the 2013-2014 season. Kyle Woods & Chad Polk will be the assigned instructors for this team.
Mr. Woods already has a proven track record of building championship teams. Starting in 2011 his team won 5 tournament championships. Then in 2012 Kyle’s team went 69-15-2 on the year (fall/spring/summer), played in 14 championship games out of 16 tournaments played, and won 6 championships. Currently in 2013, his team is 48-6, played in 9 championship games with 6 tourney wins so far, and now ranked #4 in the United States. Mr. Woods has been providing full-time private baseball instruction for 4 years.
Kyle is also a Dallas Tiger Alum and one that “grew up” in the club. He played 9 years with the Tigers before going on to college baseball.
Mr. Polk has been around the Dallas Tigers Baseball Club since 1993 with his younger brother, Coy, on the original Tiger team. Chad played at Howard Junior College and was drafted in the 13th round by the California Angels. Forgoing pro baseball, he chose to attend Baylor University on baseball scholarship. Chad was even fortunate enough to play in the Cape Cod League in Massachusetts. He continued on to pro baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays.
As an instructor for the Dallas Tigers, Chad has coached teams in countless championship games. He has coached in a number of National Championship games from Triple Crown Steamboat, CO and Super Series Texas to AABC and Cooperstown New York.
“This is an extremely rare and very unique situation …I have 2 of my best instructors coaching the same team. If I’m a parent with a player in this age group it would be an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I have no doubt Kyle and Chad will have this team competing on a national level in no time!“

The 9U Dallas Tigers played in yet another championship game and came away the winner in this 10U Open tournament. Solid pitching performances all weekend were the key in going undefeated this weekend. There were a number of occasions where timely hitting made the difference, but it was always a different player. The Tigers made plays defensively when they had to down the stretch.
Way to go boys!
The Dallas Tigers 10U Polk played up a level this weekend in an 11U tournament at Texas Star in Euless. The Tigers went 5-0 on the weekend on their way to another Championship win. The boys met a very strong DBAT Mustangs-Buck team in the Championship. The game was an up and down battle early in the game with the lead changing hands 3 times. The Tigers pulled away late winning a great offensive battle, 13-9.
The win brings the Dallas Tigers 10U Polk record to 33-4 on the season. Congratulations boys! Great weekend!
