Former Tiger Clayton Kershaw and Current Tiger Bryce Carter Win Awards

Former and present Dallas Tigers take home prestigious national awards!

Former 4 year Dallas Tiger, Clayton Kershaw, received the 2013 Warren Spahn Award. The Warren Spahn Award is presented annually to the best left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. The award is named after Oklahoman and National Baseball Hall of Famer Warren Spahn, who holds the MLB record of 363 wins as a left-handed pitcher. Spahn Award rankings are based on a pitcher’s wins, strikeouts and earned run average.

This season, Kershaw became the first pitcher since Greg Maddux (1993-1995) to lead the major leagues in ERA for three consecutive seasons.

Current Dallas Tiger, Bryce Carter, was awarded the The Ferguson Jenkins Outstanding Student Athlete Award which recognizes 10 high school athletes and the outstanding high school baseball and softball coaches. This award is presented annually at the Warren Spahn Award Gala in Oklahoma City.

Congratulations men for the honor of these awards!

Dallas Tigers BIG National Signing Day

Many of the graduating Dallas Tigers were busy inking National Letters of Intent with their chosen colleges yesterday on National Signing Day!  We couldn’t be more proud of the boys and their years of work to get to this point.  “This is what it’s all about.  Young kids growing up in the program and reaching their goal of playing college baseball,” commented club President, Tommy Hernandez.  “These images speak to a lot of things …family dedication to enabling their son to play at a high level, hard work of individual kids, and a platform built to develop skills, team work, and perseverance.  I look forward to National Signing Day every year, and couldn’t be more proud right now.”

From all the instructors and families in the Dallas Tigers Baseball Club, congratulations boys!!!

Dallas Tigers Play in USA Baseball Tournament of Stars

Five Dallas Tigers competed last week in the USA Baseball Tournament of Stars presented by Major League Baseball. Pictured are Michael Kopech, Tanner Gardner, Drew Gooch, Turner Larkins, Bryce Carter, and Tigers President/USA Baseball Coach Tommy Hernandez.

The USA Baseball Tournament of Stars (TOS) presented by Major League Baseball is made up of 144 of the nation’s best ballplayers that are international age-eligible for 18U National Team consideration (born in 1995 or 1996). They are invited by USA Baseball to play for one of seven National Member Organizations (AABC, American Legion, Babe Ruth, Dixie, PONY, NABF and RBI) or via an “at-large” team selected by USA Baseball (Stars). TOS participants form the primary pool of talent from which USA Baseball will select its 18U National Team to represent our country at the 2013 IBAF 18U World Cup in Taichung, Taiwan later this summer.
