Perfect Game State Championship Highlights

Against the North Texas Longhorns in the semi-finals, the Dallas Tigers jumped out to an early lead and captured a 15-6 victory in bracket play on Sunday.  Nine runs in the first three innings allowed the Tigers to put the game away early.

A two-run single by Ryan Patterson and an RBI double by Heston Tole fueled the first inning.  The Tigers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Patterson, who went 3-3 against North Texas Longhorns pitching.

Tole got the win for the Dallas Tigers and went 3 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered eight hits.  North Texas Longhorns ended up scoring six runs in the top of the fourth to cut its deficit to three. Two doubles and a single gave North Texas Longhorns-Boddie life. Bradley Missel came in to close things out and stop the Longhorns in their tracks. It didn’t take long for the Tigers to respond as they scored six runs of their own in the fourth. The Dallas Tigers Hernandez scored on a bases loaded walk by Dylan DeLeon, an RBI single by Hudson Polk, a hit by pitch, a walk by Jalon Mack, and a two-run single by Max Lucas.

In the finals, the Dallas Tigers took out Texas Stix Black with help from Jalon Mack, 6-2.  Jalon went 3-3 at the plate, helping his team to a 6-2 victory over the Stix in the Perfect Game State Championship.  He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.  On the mound, the team relied on Dylan DeLeon to eat up innings en route to the win. DeLeon pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out two.

The Dallas Tigers stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first.  Late in the game, the Texas Stix scored one run in the top of the seventh to cut its deficit to four, but it wasn’t enough against the closer Bradley Missel. Missel shut them down in the top of the 7th and got the last out on a strikeout looking.

Congratulations to the 14U Dallas Tigers Perfect Game State Championship winners!  Nice work boys!

Dallas Tigers Tour Arizona State Baseball Facilities

On a recent baseball tournament trip to Phoenix, Arizona, the 14U Dallas Tigers were treated to a tour of Arizona State baseball facilities in Tempe, Arizona.  Arizona State Baseball took over Phoenix Municipal Stadium in 2015 as their home field.  Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark, located in Tempe, was the home of Arizona State baseball from 1974 to 2014.

“What a place to play college baseball,” commented Coach Tommy Hernandez.  “This is what it’s all about …our guys preparing for college baseball. Part of the preparation for our players goes beyond practices and games.  We want them to see, feel, and experience some of these baseball facilities to see what is in store for them.  This tour definitely had an impact on our boys.”

Arizona State baseball is in the PAC-12 Conference South Division, and has the #1 winning percentage among the entire conference.  They are coached by Tracy Smith.  Learn more about ASU baseball here.

National Signing Day 2016 for Dallas Tigers

Today was a big day in the lives of many young men.  The photos they took today with family and friends will be forever looked upon as a an experience like none other.  Today was the official National Signing Day 2016 for a number of NCAA sports but most notably for a number of Dallas Tigers baseball players.

“I look forward to national signing day every year …better said, this is definitely my favorite day of the year,” commented Tommy Hernandez, Dallas Tigers Baseball Club President. “This is what it is all about.  Young men with the desire and ability to play college baseball getting the opportunity to do so at some great universities.”

“Most of these kids I’ve known since they were 10 or 11 years of age and having the opportunity as a coach to watch them grow up in the club and develop is a dream come true for me every time.  We have kids go play baseball at armed services academies, JUCO, baseball powerhouse colleges and everything in between.  Having our instructors and club be a platform to support these young men with something they are passionate about …words can’t describe the pride and joy.”

The Dallas Tigers Baseball Club is nationally ranked top 5 program for youth and high school baseball players.  Over a 22 year history they’ve sent hundreds of players on baseball scholarships to colleges all over the United States.  Even more, in 2015 they had 13 players in Major League Baseball!!

So without further ado, congratulations to the National Signing Day 2016 Dallas Tigers !!!

Texas Bombers Elite Fall to the Mighty Dallas Tigers 14U

Matt Dozier 14U Tournament Champions 2015

Congratulations are in order for the Dallas Tigers 14U-Hernandez/Arias squad who took championship honors at the Matt Dozier Tournament this past weekend after downing the Texas Bombers Elite 6-3.  The three keys to victory in this game were opportunistic base running, timely hitting, and stellar pitching. Chad Brown recorded the win after striking out two, picking off two and surrendering only three hits to an extremely well slugging Bombers team. Bradley Missel took the mound for the final two innings and shut the Bombers down with 4 strikeouts and two hits.

The Dallas Tigers and Texas Bombers Elite each put runners in scoring position on Sunday, but the Tigers were able to capitalize on these opportunities. While the Bombers stranded 8 runners on base, the Tigers only stranded 2.

At the plate, the Tigers were led by Max Lucas’s hitting. Lucas went 2-2 and scored two runs.

Way to start off the season boys!

Tommy Hernandez to Coach 14U Team 2015-2016

TigersLogo-204x300Tommy Hernandez will be coaching the current 13U-Woods team as they move into their 14U season for 2015/2016.  Kyle Woods has been afforded the opportunity to be a roving instructor for multiple teams in the club and focus on his current 16U team (soon to be 17U).

“Kyle is a great resource for the club and by having him become a roving instructor for us will benefit a lot of teams and kids in our system.  Plus 16U & 17U seasons for his older guys are very important recruiting periods.  This setup will enable him to focus on his older team and afford the opportunity to help other teams/players,” said Tommy Hernandez, President of Dallas Tigers Baseball Club.  “Just like trying to write out your best line-up, we work to put our instructors in positions where it benefits the club and them the most.”

Steve Arias, a long time Tiger coach & instructor, will assist Tommy with this 14U team as well.  Tommy & Steve have coached a number of Tiger teams together over the last 20+ years, and this will be another great opportunity for these top baseball guys to coach together again.
